Step beyond “cute” and into connection, emotion, and artistry. Join me for an intimate, hands-on masterclass designed for photographers ready to elevate their pet photography…Creatively, Technically, and Emotionally.

Over 4 immersive days, you’ll photograph dogs, cats, and birds across both studio and natural light outdoor environments, while learning how to create images that truly move people. You will learn how to create emotionally powerful pet portraits. How to work with Studio lighting, read animal behaviour and work with it (not against it). We’ll cover composition and storytelling techniques, and you’ll gain confidence directing shoots in both studio and outdoor settings. Wrapping up by learning how to edit with purpose and consistency.

This masterclass is designed for the Intermediate to advanced photographer wanting to refine their pet photography style and increase their portfolio. For portrait photographers wanting to expand into animals and for creatives ready to move beyond “nice photos” into artwork!

What you’ll experience:

Day 1 – Thursday Welcome Dinner 5pm 

We begin with a relaxed evening together at a local pub-style venue.

• Meet your fellow photographers
• Discussion around animal behaviour,  expectations and safety
• We’ll set intentions for the experience
• We’ll get inspired and excited for what’s ahead

This is where the magic starts, connection, community, and creativity.

Day 2 Friday – Dogs:

Studio + Location 

A full day of shooting and learning.

Morning – In the Studio

• Bird in the studio. Studio lighting foundations
• Simple, effective setups
• Creating clean, striking portraits
• Lunch in the studio 

Afternoon – On Location

• Portraits of dogs in natural environments
• Using available light creatively
• Capturing the personality and expression of dogs and posing dogs.
• Dinner at a local Pub-style venue

Day 3 Saturday – Advanced Shooting Day

Studio + Location 

Another full day of shooting and learning.

We will expand on your skills across different animals and setups, both in the studio and on location.

Morning – In the Studio

Cat & Bird in Studio

• • Handling different temperaments
  • Lighting for texture, detail, and mood
  • Creating calm, controlled environments
  • Lunch in the studio

You’ll gain confidence working with a variety of animals, not just dogs.

Afternoon – On Location

• Action portraits of dogs

Learn how to capture the crazy chaos of dogs in action. Stopping the motion for sharp details and experimenting with creativity and slow shutter speeds as well as multiple exposures

• Dinner at a local pub-style venue

Day 4 Sunday – Editing + Refinement

We bring it all together.

Morning – In the Studio

• My editing workflow (from RAW to finished artwork)
• Enhancing emotion, tone, and storytelling
• Bringing out the wow-factor
• Preparing for output

We finish with a relaxed wrap-up session and lunch in the studio, ending the day at 1.30 pm.

What you need to bring:

• Your camera.
• Charged camera batteries and empty memory cards.
• Your laptop with back-up drives.
• An open mind ready to learn.
• Comfy clothing for being around animals and photographing in studio and outdoor locations as well as getting down on the ground.

Cost:

• $1360 pp Includes 5 Masterclass workshops in studio and on location. 3 pub-style dinners, 3 in-studio lunches and 2 afternoon teas. Does not include accommodation, transport, breakfast or dinner drinks.
• $100 Booking fee payable at the time of booking with the balance payable 7 days prior to the masterclass
• Water, Tea and Coffee available in the studio at all times.
• Starts at 5pm Thursday and finishes at 1.30pm Sunday.
• Limited to 6 photographers

Whats not included: 

Accommodation, Transport to Locations, Breakfast and Dinner Drinks.
