In the studio and on location with Louise, the perfect place to start your photography journey. Great if you’ve just got your very first camera and need a hand getting to know it better, or perhaps you’ve had one for a while, and would love to know more about how it works and take your photography to the next level. I understand that everyone likes to learn differently, so this workshop is held over one full day, broken up into two parts. Starting in the studio, to learn the language and all the basics of photography, and then out on location nearby, to put the theory into practice. It also includes an easy, make-your-own lunch, tailored to you.

This workshop will help you to understand your camera, without pressure or too much of the tech stuff that often comes with learning the ‘science’ of photography. It’s necessary to know, but the ‘Art’ of photography is where the magic lies.

You’ll learn about the language of photography, and I’ll gently guide you to become familiar with what your camera has to offer. You’ll learn about your camera and its buttons, dials and functions as well as establishing a good shooting technique. You will have a new understanding of your user manual, without the fear. You will learn all about the exposure triangle – Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. As well as looking at Depth-of-field, lenses, focusing, how your camera see’s light and white balance. We will talk about developing your photographer’s eye and seeing compositions, and touch on accessories, work-flow and editing, as well as storage and care of your files.

All this is followed after lunch by an outdoor, hands-on learning session, putting all that we learned in the studio, into practice.

This workshop is limited to just 4 participants so you get a very personal learning experience.

It’s the perfect starting point for your photography journey, setting you up with a solid foundation on which to continue building.

What you need to bring:

• Your camera and it’s manual (If you have one).
• Charged camera battery and an empty memory card.
• An open mind ready to learn.
• Comfy clothing for sitting and getting out in nature.
