AIPP STATE AWARDS…March 2017
Why would you put yourself through the pressure of awards? Why go without hours of sleep? Why put yourself through the stress and anxiety of choosing THE images your going to enter out of a forest of images, then sit there for hours, days, weeks editing and printing and reprinting and reprinting said images? Are they going to be good enough? Am I going to be laughed out of the joint?
omg omg omg.
These are some of the things that I have asked myself daily over the past few weeks in the lead up to VPPY, and Im pretty sure others that enter do too.
So what is the point of it all???
Well…….because I love what I do. I love what I can create for my clients. I love horses. I love reaching for goals that sometime seem unreachable. I love learning from the incredibly talented and knowledgeable people around me. I love being a part of a professional community that has been supportive and encouraging. I love seeing what wonderfully creative and amazing things others are doing in our industry. I get great satisfaction from putting myself out there with my peers.
Its scary as hell!
But, this really cool thing happens.
You LEARN heaps!.
You have your facebook feed filled to the eyeballs with words of congratulations and pride from my dearest friends and family, and from people whom ive never met.
You get to see your peers grow and achieve success and be amazing and be super proud at what they have achieved.
And if your really lucky, you might win an award! OR TWO!
I was lucky enough to win two silver awards. One of which was only 1 point away from a distinction. Yeah baby!
I only had the time to enter three images into the awards and my third image was let down by my editing skills sadly. But i will learn from the comments that the judges made, so im good with that.
My aim this year was to get seeded for APPA (National awards) later in the year. To do this you must have at least two images with a score above 80. I succeeded.
